Kansas City Chiefs players Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce had a great moment together in Brazil ahead of the season kickoff.

NFL players and teammates often become friends, but there’s something special about the friendship between Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce. These two have been through a lot together, from championship wins to embarrassing losses, and they have each other’s backs.

So, it should come as no surprise that Mahomes and Kelce are sharing a lot of special moments together as the Kansas City Chiefs’ season kicks off. This could be the final season for Kelce with the Chiefs, after all, so these two better enjoy every moment that they have together.

Of course, they’re doing just that, and they’re spending time together in Brazil. Ahead of the Chiefs’ season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers, Mahomes and Kelce spoke with the press, and Mahomes came to Kelce’s rescue, in a way. The Chiefs go up against the Chargers on Friday, September 8, at 8 p.m. Eastern time in São Paulo, Brazil, at Corinthians Arena.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Defines Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Relationship

Speaking with reporters, a reporter asked Kelce if “there’s a difficulty to focus on everything on the field” since he began “dating Taylor Swift.” It’s a reasonable question, but at the same time, Kelce and Swift have been together for two years, and he won a Super Bowl after the two were together, so it seems as if he’s still very much focused on his job.

Before Kelce could even respond, Mahomes cut in and corrected the reporter for saying the two were dating, instead, saying “Engaged.” It was a cute bro love moment and showed the Mahomes is very proud that his friend has found the love of his life.

“Yeah, I got one more ring from it,” Kelce added. “Ever since I’ve been dating Taylor, life has been fun. It’s been exciting. Obviously, there’s a lot more eyes [on me] and I accept that, but I’m living life and living on a high, I guess.”

Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is Elite

The much-anticipated annual “NFL Top 100” rankings were released on Monday, September 2, and for the seventh consecutive year, Mahomes was in the top 10, which is very impressive.

Mahomes was No. 5 in this year’s tally, which were numbers voted on by the players themselves. Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley came in at No. 1.

Of Mahomes, NFL reporter Michael Baca said, “The two-time most valuable player once again faced adversity with a depleted receiving corps in 2024, resulting in the second straight year without a 1,000-yard pass catcher. Of course, that didn’t prevent Mahomes from leading Kansas City to a 15-1 record as a starter and a third straight Super Bowl appearance.”

He added, “While he burst onto the scene with incredible passing numbers, winning football games has been the 29-year-old’s specialty — achieving such success with incredible field awareness in the pocket and on the run, with his biggest plays often coming in the fourth quarter, where he led the league in fourth-quarter comebacks (five) and game-winning drives (seven) this past season.”

Baca continued regarding the quarterback, “Mahomes’ knack for making the impossible throws also sets him apart, and although the numbers might have prevented Mahomes from making his seventh straight Pro Bowl, there’s arguably no other QB you’d want with the game on the line.”

It’s great to see Mahomes get these props, especially right before the season starts. Let’s get back to the big game and take home another win for the franchise.
