America’s Sweetheart: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders alum Victoria Kalina has an update on her quest to become a Radio City Rockette.

“I did audition this past year and, boy, I freaking loved it,” Victoria, 25, said in a Tuesday, September 2, YouTube video. “It was an amazing experience auditioning, stepping into that room [and] in front of the directors and choreographers. I definitely learned so much, and this job takes dedication and grit.”

Victoria moved to New York City in 2024 after hanging up her Cowboys uniform a year early to audition for the Rockettes. She, ultimately, did not make the roster.

“I did not put in the hours of training that are needed, and I should have before walking into that audition,” she said on Tuesday. “I did not go in my best dancer A++ self.”

According to Victoria, she wasn’t prepared for the audition so soon after moving to the Big Apple from Dallas.

“This first year living in New York City kicked me almost down,” she said. “I had that full experience, and it was tough having to go from not living alone and seeing my mom every day [and she was] helping me so much … to never. Then, on top of that, having to manage expenses, having to manage the timeline and lifestyle of New York City [and] learning all things adulting, grocery shopping, laundry [and] also work so I can live here.”

Victoria started earning income by teaching dance classes both in person and virtually. In between her new business commitments, she took several lessons herself.

“I actually took class with the dance captain of the Rockettes, Danelle [Morgan], and absolutely fell in love with the Rockettes again,” she gushed. “I had moments of, like, ‘OK, is this what I’m meant to be doing and training for? [After the classes], I was, like, ‘No, I definitely have more performance in me to give.’”

Victoria continued, “Y’all, I’m so ready to freaking crush this training process. I am on a whole new, like, ‘get ready, get set, go,’ mindset. There is a whole new level of determination from this Victoria Kalina.”

The Rockettes hold annual auditions each April to select their latest class of dancers.

“I am so ready to dance my ass off to make my dreams come true,” Victoria concluded. “Rockettes [training] is a go — full-on throttle. … Your girl’s in a great mindset of full throttle of determination [and I want to] be really dedicated.”
