The 2025 season kicks off this week, and excitement is high for every fan base. While all teams are currently 0-0, fans can be blindly optimistic with all 17 games in front of them.

However, after the first weekend of games, that excitement will continue for half the league, and disappointment will take over for the other half.

The Green Bay Packers are hoping to keep the excitement high with a Week 1 win, but they have a tall task on their hands, opening the season against the Detroit Lions.

Obviously, fans want the Packers to win this game, but no one is going to hit the panic button if Green Bay has a competitive loss.

It’s just Week 1, and the Lions are an elite team.

However, result aside, there is one thing that would leave Packers fans panicking: the cornerbacks getting picked on all game.

Packers’ concerning cornerback room faces a huge test in Week 1 against the Lions

Entering the season, fans feel pretty good about what Green Bay will put on the field offensively.

Josh Jacobs is going to run the ball well, and Jordan Love and the talented group of receivers are going to make plays through the air.

There’s also excitement defensively, considering the team recently added Micah Parsons.

The star defender should help solve the Packers’ pass-rushing issues, and he should be a good fit for what’s already a promising defensive front.

Additionally, Xavier McKinney is back for year two, and the All-Pro safety is ready to take things to another level.

The one concern, though, is the cornerback position. Green Bay moved on from Jaire Alexander this offseason and is entering the year with a cornerback room led by Keisean Nixon and Nate Hobbs.

This questioned group of corners could end up being a really good unit and deliver as needed for the Packers to be a great defense.

However, they’ll be facing an explosive Lions offense with Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams at wide receiver. If the Packers struggle to slow Detroit’s passing attack, there will be all kinds of takes about why Green Bay should’ve invested more in the cornerback room this offseason.

The Packers’ corners can prevent that by giving fans a great first impression on Sunday.
