Good news for San Francisco on 49ers 1st practice participation report of the 2025 season

The San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday had their first official practice of the season, meaning they also issued their first practice participation report.

There weren’t any surprises among the full, limited and non-participants, which is good news for San Francisco. They had 52 of 53 players on the active roster available for Monday’s bonus practice. That was largely true again Wednesday with 50 players participating and only two missing due to injury.

Here’s Wednesday’s practice participation report:

Did not participate

  • DE Yetur Gross-Matos (knee)

  • WR Jordan Watkins (ankle)

  • LT Trent Williams (rest)

No surprises here, although it’s a little strange Gross-Matos is out of practice. He was on PUP through the entire preseason and only placed on the active roster at final cuts. There was some expectation his arrival on the active roster would mean he’s available when the team opens its season Sunday in Seattle. His status moving forward is unclear, though an IR stint is a possibility. Watkins wasn’t expected to be available after sustaining a high ankle sprain in the preseason opener. Williams is likely to get plenty of practice days off as the team aims to keep him healthy.

Limited participation

  • RB Jordan James (finger)

  • WR Jauan Jennings (calf)

  • RG Dominick Puni (knee)

No surprises in this group either. James and Jennings both missed a few weeks and need to be eased back into practice. Puni’s return to practice is a good sign for his potential availability after a knee injury he sustained in the second preseason game. Immediate speculation was that he wouldn’t be ready for Week 1, but signs are pointing that way now.

Full participation

  • LG Ben Bartch (elbow)

  • DT Kalia Davis (groin)

  • RB Isaac Guerendo (shoulder)

  • DE Bryce Huff (ankle)

  • QB Mac Jones (knee)

  • DE Sam Okuayinonu (shoulder)

  • S Jason Pinnock (heel)

  • CB Upton Stout (calf)

  • DT CJ West (knee)

  • DE Mykel Williams (knee)

All great news for the 49ers here. This group was in Monday’s practice, but their participation level was unclear because the team didn’t need to issue a report. That they were all full participants puts them on track to suit up in Week 1.

Seattle Seahawks practice report

  • WR Jake Bobo (concussion, limited)

  • LB Uchenna Nwosu (knee, limited)

  • WR Cody White (shoulder, limited)

  • WR Dareke Young (hamstring, limited)

  • WR Tory Horton (ankle, full)

The 49ers aren’t the only team with injury problems at wide receiver.
