BALTIMORE — The Red Sox will make four roster moves before their series finale against the Orioles on Thursday.

Setup man Justin Slaten (shoulder) and outfielder Rob Refsnyder (left oblique strain) will be activated from the IL, according to sources.

Sources also say first baseman Nathaniel Lowe will be placed on paternity leave while Boston also will option lefty reliever Jovani Morán to Triple-A Worcester.

Refsnyder missed 12 games with his injury while Slaten was sidelined for 76 games.

The 27-year-old Slaten posted a 3.47 ERA, four holds, three saves and a .171 batting average against in 24 outings before landing on the IL June 1 with what was described as “right shoulder inflammation.”

He later learned his transverse process/bone was pressing and pinching against nerves and blood vessels, causing the soreness. He said he was born with a transverse process/bone “that was abnormally large and misshaped.”

He made three rehab appearances for Triple-A Worcester, allowing one unearned run, one hit and one walk while striking out five.

Refsnyder is batting .272 with a .357 on-base percentage, .471 slugging percentage, .827 OPS, six homers, nine doubles and 22 RBIs in 54 games (157 plate appearances). He has a .287/.384/.521/.905 line in 112 plate appearances vs. left-handed pitchers.

Boston won 3-2 over Baltimore on Wednesday and will look to complete the four-game series sweep Thursday at 1:05 p.m.
