Dodgers See Alex Call Exit Early
At this year’s MLB trade deadline, the Los Angeles Dodgers made a few modest moves but did not make a blockbuster deal. Still, the Dodgers addressed areas of need by adding reliever Brock Stewart in a trade with the Minnesota Twins and outfielder Alex Call in a deal with the Washington Nationals.
Call, 30, is under control through 2029 and can play all three outfield spots, giving manager Dave Roberts an extra tool to use at his disposal.
Entering Tuesday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds, Call had 10 hits in 35 at-bats while appearing in 18 games and forming a bit of a platoon with veteran Michael Conforto in left field.
Call pinch hit for Conforto on Tuesday and hit into a fielder’s choice before eventually scoring via a Miguel Rojas double to give LA a 5-1 lead.
Unfortunately, Call left the game after that inningand Justin Dean took his spot in the lineup.

After scoring the run in the bottom of the sixth, Call was removed with no update from the team during the remainder of the game.
” Alex Call was removed from the game with an apparent injury…There was no replay that showed what exactly happened but he was def struggling to run home on the Rojas double,” Blake Harris wrote on X.
After the game, Roberts revealed an update on Call, via Michael Duarte of NBC LA.
“Dave Roberts said Alex Call injured his lower back running home on the Rojas’ double. He called it “not too concerning” and said he wants him in the lineup tomorrow,” Duarte wrote.
Call also told Roberts he played through worse, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, and the hope is that Call can be in the lineup on Wednesday.
