BALTIMORE — The Red Sox have recalled lefty reliever Jovani Morán from Triple-A Worcester to take right-handed pitcher Richard Fitts’ spot on the active roster, according to sources.
Boston has placed Fitts on the injured list with right arm neuritis.

These are the only roster moves the Sox are expected to make before Tuesday’s game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Setup man Justin Slaten (shoulder) and outfielder Rob Refsnyder (left oblique strain) are both nearing a return but aren’t expected to be activated today.
Fitts left Boston’s 4-3 win over the Orioles on Monday in the second inning due to right biceps tightness.
After the game, Fitts spoke optimistically about his condition not being anything serious, saying, “We’re gonna evaluate tomorrow, but I’m feeling pretty good about it.”
He had no MRI scheduled as of Monday night and his strength tests went well.

Moran spent seven games on Boston’s active roster Aug. 11-19, his first stint in the majors this season after returning from Tommy John surgery. In two appearances, the 28-year-old allowed three runs, five hits and three walks while striking out five in 4 innings.
At Worcester this season, he has a 3.54 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 13 outings.
He has posted a 4.26 ERA in 81 career major league outings between the Twins (2021-23) and Red Sox.
The 25-year-old Fitts is 2-4 with a 5.00 ERA in 11 outings (10 starts) this season. He pitched 4 innings Monday as a bulk reliever after Brennan Bernardino threw a scoreless first inning as the opener.
