Saquon Barkley grabbed the hardware, and Derrick Henry many of the headlines, but Packers running back Josh Jacobs also had one of the most dominant seasons at the position last season, and could be primed for an even more explosive 2025.

Rushing for a career-high 15 touchdowns while posting 1,329 yards, his most prolific output since winning the rushing crown back in 2022, Jacobs became a focal point of the Packers’ offense.

As the 2025 NFL season approaches, Jacobs is widely regarded as one of the most punishing running backs in the sport.

ESPN lists Jacobs as the No. 67 overall player entering the season, while pointing out a state that puts the 27-year-old back in some elite company, pointing out that Henry ranks third in yards from scrimmage per game over the past three seasons, at 102.7. Jacobs only trails Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry in the key metric, that shows his versatility and explosiveness.

“Jacobs played in every game last season and was one of only six backs with more than 300 carries,” ESPN’s Rob Demovsky points out. “Finishing with 1,329 yards. That was in his first season in Green Bay, and he had to learn the offense. “The biggest thing that’s different between this year and last year is I don’t really have to go out there and think,” Jacobs said. ‘I know most of the things that we’re doing.’”

In addition to contributing as a receiver out of the backfield and a runner, explosive plays became a hallmark of Jacobs’ first season in Green Bay, rattling off 33 runs of 10-plus yards, according to Pro Football Focus.

Jacobs’ blend of explosiveness and versatility give him the chance to be the driving force of the Packers’ offense this upcoming season.
