After a four-year drought, MLB will be back in Iowa, and the Twins will be a part of it.

Minnesota Twins to play Philadelphia Phillies in iconic Field of Dreams Game in Dyersville, Iowa

The Twins will play the Phillies in the first Field of Dreams Game in four years sometime in August 2026, according to The Athletic’s Dan Hayes and Matt Gelb. Minnesota will be the home team. The exact date of the game will be revealed when the 2026 schedule is released on Tuesday.

The Field of Dreams is a cornfield that was popularized by the 1989 movie starring Kevin Costner.

The last time the iconic cornfield hosted an MLB Game was in 2022 in a matchup between the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals. Chicago (NL) won 4-1.

Before that, the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox played in the inaugural game at the historic field in 2021. The game ended in walk-off fashion at the hands of Tim Anderson as Chicago (AL) defeated New York (AL) 9-8.

Since the most recent matchup at the Field of Dreams, the temporary stadium has been dismantled and sold. A permanent ballpark was built, and it will “seat far fewer people than the roughly 7,800 fans who attended the first two iterations of the game,” per the Athletic.

The 2026 Field of Dreams Game will mark the Twins’ first game at an alternate site since the team played two games against the Cleveland Indians in Puerto Rico in 2018.

The Phillies have had a lot more recent experience at alternate sites, having played in London in 2024 and in the Little League Classic in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, in 2018 and 2023.

Playing in the Field of Dreams Game is an exciting development for Twins fans, considering all of the disappointment the team has brought over the past couple of seasons. The majority of fans are not content with the current on-field product, but with some promising prospects expected to make their MLB debuts next year, the Field of Dreams Game adds more excitement to a team that has lacked it recently.

Blue Jays Add Former Giants Reliever Tyler Rogers to Bolster Bullpen.

The San Francisco Giants have had a frugal offseason to this point, with plenty of reports and rumors that frugality will be a central theme over the next few days, weeks, and months. And now we have perhaps the most painful example of it yet, as the team did not sign the one player that everyone expected them to add this offseason: reliever Tyler Rogers.
