We have all heard of tetanus. “Don’t step on a nail, you’ll get tetanus!”
Or if you get injured you often hear, “When’s the last time you’ve had your tetanus shot?”
People, cows, and horses all get tetanus vaccines. Dogs and cats are resistant for the most part, so they do not have a vaccine – it is very rare to see.
But this is Renee Marie Norwood, and she has tetanus. It comes from a bacteria that attacks your nervous system and causes muscle contraction. Renee’s ears are pinned back, the skin around her eyes is tight, and her jaw is stiff. Our veterinarian knew it was tetanus right away.
But Renee is also missing a leg. Her paw is missing and her entire leg is degloved, leaving her leg bone completely exposed! This wound is weeks old and it kills us know she has been living like this, in so much pain, so full of fear.
She will need to have her leg fully amputated as soon as she is stable enough to undergo surgery. The tetanus is also treatable with antibiotics, if caught early enough.
Please give for this sweet girl Renee, so we can save her life! Mark our words, she will not suffer for another MINUTE. We’re getting her on antibiotics and pain meds right away, clean and wrap her wound as best as we can until we safely remove it.
Can you imagine?? We definitely have a warrior girl on our hands, and she is asking for everyone’s prayers!! Donations welcome and needed right here:
