The Chicago Bears shut out the Buffalo Bills in the preseason on Sunday, but don’t tell Bears fans the game didn’t even count. You at least have to give credit to the Bears for beating up on an AFC contender. Sure, Buffalo was primarily playing their backups, but a win is a win.
However, the Chicago Bears’ fanbase has been starved for winning football for years now, so even a preseason win is something they’ll celebrate. While the rest of the NFC North, including the Green Bay Packers, are trying to contend for Super Bowls, Chicago seems to think a preseason win is close to winning a Super Bowl.
It’ll be interesting to see if Chicago can look like a competent team when the regular season kicks off in a few weeks, as their preseason performance is going to have fans buzzing until then.

In total, Caleb Williams went 6/10 for 107 yards and one touchdown for the Chicago Bears, and the offense has obviously been the primary point of focus for the Bears this offseason. They hired Ben Johnson away from the Detroit Lions and also rebuilt the interior of their offensive line in free agency.
On paper, Chicago is talented, but many talented teams have not always had success. I guess when you’re a desperate franchise like the Chicago Bears are, the fans will latch onto anything they can. While they might not want to admit it; Chicago is still, by far, the worst team in the NFC North heading into 2025.
And they might also have the worst quarterback in the division as well. All of the Packers, Vikings, and Lions are ahead of the Bears, and it’s just rich to see Chicago’s fans acting like this after a singular preseason win that won’t mean anything when the regular season starts.
