BREAKING: Kansas City Chiefs Former 1st-Round Pick Suffers Major Injury

The Kansas City Chiefs are likely to be without a former first-round pick for the entire 2025 regular season.

Per Ari Meirov of the 33rd Team, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed that defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah suffered a hamstring injury during training camp and is likely going to head to injured reserve, ending the pass rusher’s season.

“Chiefs DE Felix Anudike-Uzomah, their 2023 first-round pick, is likely to be placed on IR with a hamstring injury, per HC Andy Reid,” Meirov posted on X. “That would mean his 2025 season is over.”

Players put on IR during training camp will miss the regular season unless a team chooses to designate them for return before the roster cutdown from 90 to 53 players.

The injury is a setback for the 2023 first-round pick. Anundike-Uzomah has appeared in 34 games and started three in his first two seasons in the league. He’s recorded 41 tackles, two forced fumbles, and three sacks.

If Anundike-Uzomah is placed on IR, the former Kansas State standout will face a pressure season in 2026 to make a case for a contract extension with the Chiefs. In his third season in the league, Anundike was behind Mike Danna on the depth chart, a disappointment for being a Day 1 pick.

With Anundike-Uzomah out, the Chiefs will need rookie Ashton Gillotte to step up in the regular season. The third-round pick has one tackle in the preseason thus far.
