The Atlanta Braves swept the Cleveland Guardians and return home playing like the Atlanta Braves everyone expected the team to be this season. Winners of five straight, the Braves have won eight-out-of-ten and while this is most likely a case of too little, much too late, Atlanta winning games is fun.
On paper, the Braves should have a chance to extend their winning streak as the play host the worst team in the American League – and second worst in baseball – for a three-game set.
The Chicago White Sox are in the depths of a rebuild and while not quite as bad as they were last season when they won only 41 games – a total they have already exceeded this season – they are still bad. Regardless of how you feel about these recent wins by the Braves impacting their standing in the 2026 draft, Atlanta is still 12 games under .500 and carrying the fifth worst record in all of MLB.
Never say never for a miracle finish for the Braves, but right now, watching Michael Harris II be awesome and the offense being pretty decent is fun. The pitching hasn’t been bad either – a development that is more about what guys like Joey Wentz and Hurston Waldrep might be able to offer next year than the 2-in-1,000 shot they have to sneak into the playoffs in 2025.
