It is not at all shocking that Taylor Swift appearing on the “New Heights” podcast with Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce broke all kinds of records. In fact, there were over one million people watching the episode when it premiered.
Taylor Swift Hilariously Addresses ‘Male Sports Fans’ in ‘New Heights’ Intro What probably surprised most people is that Swift exercised the knowledge she has of the game of football, including rifling off defensive coverages that led to Travis being shocked.
Now, the Kansas City Chiefs are commenting on the sheer impact that the pop phenom has had on the team.
Chiefs owner Clark Hunt joined “The Pat McAfee Show” where he talked about being proud of the relationship between Swift and Kelce, and what it has meant for the team, including the massive change in fandom that she has caused.
“We’re so happy for Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift … They’re an amazing couple and watching the two of them together is really special …,” Hunt stated.
Hunt also revealed that Swift has led to a dramatic shift in fandom for the Chiefs. “She’s done an amazing job, unintentionally, of increasing our female fanbase.
We used to be about a 50/50 ratio of male to female fanbase.
Now, 57 percent of our fans are female, which I think is probably the highest in the National Football League.
There has absolutely been a Taylor Swift effect,” Hunt added. When the word got around that Swift and Kelce were dating, the pair began to show up in public places, and then the pop superstar began to appear at games.
The telecast would cut to her cheering in a suite next to Donna Kelce, and she would be shown multiple times, much to the chagrin of fans everywhere. Even before the podcast was released, Swift poked fun at the “male sports fans” who would have to see her on their timelines and feeds even more.
Now, she has received huge praise from the Chiefs’ owner and a positive stamp of approval on what her fandom has led to.
NFL fans might be tired of seeing her, but it sounds as if there will be more Swift coverage happening in the 2025 season.
