Red Sox fan-favorite pitcher Kutter Crawford reveals what caused his season-ending injury, where he is on the road to recovery

The Boston Red Sox have been missing one of their fan-favorite pitchers for this entire season in Kutter Crawford. Crawford started the year on the IL due to a knee injury, and then was declared out for the season and no one knew why.

However, now he’s revealed it. Turns out, it wasn’t even related to baseball. Crawford injured himself doing chores around his house.

“Just doing some pretty standard maintenance around the house,” Crawford said. “I was outside moving some stuff, I went to move something and it got hung up and turned my wrist the other way. I felt a subtle pop,” (via Masslive)

The Sox could definitely use Crawford right about now to support the back end of the starting rotation. Last season, Crawford had a 4.36 ERA, along with 175 strikeouts. While it doesn’t seem like awesome stats, it would definitely be an upgrade from Walker Buehler, who is currently rocking a 5.43 ERA with 78 strikeouts, and only a few starts remaining.

Crawford has had a season-ending surgery on his wrist, all because he grabbed something heavy and moved it at home. However, he feels good, and thinks he’s healing well, both his wrist and knee.

“The knee is in a really good spot,” Crawford said. “My knee feels better than it has in probably three or four years, so I’m very optimistic about that and hopefully will have no issues next year with that. Things are going good, all things considered. The rest of the body’s feeling good.”

Hopefully he’ll be ready for next season, so the Sox have a surefire end of the rotation to close out series and keep the Sox in the game.
