Hope royals is a hit. Outside of Simmons it doesnt look like a single draft pick is worth a damn so far.

I’m not shocked or concerned by our collective defense not looking good in the preseason. I’m more shocked and concerned by literally no individual defensive rookies having any impact moments thus far. There is nothing that screams “I belong” from any of these defensive rookies. I’m not saying they don’t belong. I’m not saying they won’t be great. I’m just saying no one has made any impactful plays that make you excited. Coaches have some tough decisions because I’m not convinced you can come away from these games saying “we got our dude”.

I think Tonyan should make the roster, and I’m surprised he’s still on the field.

Tillery hasn’t shown up yet. ONL is a rookie and looks like he’s going to take a minute to figure things out. Pennel still is solid but he’s long in the tooth and probably needs to be on a snap count. So yeah, trading Tonyan for a quality DT should be a real option.

Don’t rule out a Nnadi reunion if he gets cut. I bet Veach is having his guys scout DTs looking for some help.

I have a funny feeling that a defense with McDuffie, Watson, Tranquil and Bolton a gameplan of all bootlegs probably fails. The run defense will look a lot better with CJ95 and Bolton in the middle. One of the reasons I don’t get worked up about the preseason. The difference in personnel from last years very good defense and this year is we added Fulton, Nohl Williams, Mike Edwards, ONL, Gillotte, Bassa, Tillery and lost Nnadi, Wharton and Reid. I don’t think we will be worse on defense.

If the flight crew home has a night like this, they’ll land in Salina.
