OFFICIAL: The San Francisco 49ers have reached a five-year contract extension with cornerback Deommodore Lenoir

San Francisco 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir has agreed to a five-year, $92 million contract extension to stay with the team, rather than becoming a free agent next offseason.

A person familiar with the deal confirmed that the two sides reached an agreement on Tuesday for the new contract. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity since the deal hadn’t been officially announced yet.

NFL Network was the first to report the deal.

Lenoir has become one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL this season, playing well both in the slot and on the outside for the 49ers. He has split time between the two positions, allowing 35 catches on 56 targets this season, with a 65 passer rating on passes thrown into his coverage, according to Pro Football Focus.

Lenoir has not allowed any touchdown passes, and he has two interceptions, six passes defensed, and one forced fumble. He also returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown.

The 49ers made keeping Lenoir a priority, as their two top cornerbacks, including Charvarius Ward, were set to become free agents, with Ward also in the final year of his contract.

Lenoir was drafted in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Oregon and became a starter in his second season. He has recorded six career interceptions and 23 passes defensed in 56 games.
