The Milwaukee Brewers have a few interesting decisions to make this off-season. With Willy Adames likely departing in free agency, their infield will be one hot topic of discussion.

If Joey Ortiz is chosen to slide over to shortstop then the Brew Crew could be in the market for a third baseman. One trade target that recently has emerged is 2024 All-Star Alec Bohm.

A recent report from Jeff Passan has indicated that Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm is on the trade block. The 2024 All-Star finished with a .280/.332/.448 slash line that included 15 home runs, 44 doubles, and 97 runs batted in. He has two years of team control remaining and is projected to earn $8.1 million in arbitration this off-season.

On social media, Milwaukee Brewers fans were excited about the idea of Alec Bohm being available via trade. One popular opinion was that Devin Williams should be involved in a trade package for Bohm.

Acquiring Bohm would be a nice way of trying to replace the offensive production that the team would lose if Willy Adames signs elsewhere.

What concerns are there regarding the Milwaukee Brewers targeting Alec Bohm?

One area of concern regarding Alec Bohm includes his defense. In the past, the third baseman has posted double digit negative numbers in the defensive runs saved category (-13 in 2021, -17 in 2022, and -10 in 2023).
He has good range defensively, but his arm strength is well below average and he has multiple seasons of double digits errors (15 in 2021, 13 in 2022, and 14 in 2024).

Another thing worth mentioning is that he was benched during the 2024 post-season.  According to AJ Pierzynski this decision was not just based on performance and he has more maturing to do.
