From undrafted free agent to potential starter in Dallas, former Kentucky Wildcats standout Zion Childress might have already made a name for himself this summer.
Childress originally played two years at Texas State before transferring to Kentucky and playing three seasons in Lexington.
In his three seasons, Childress tallied 148 tackles and 10 tackles for loss and did nothing but make plays during his time at Kroger Field.
Although Childress was stellar in Lexington, he went undrafted and signed with the Dallas Cowboys just a few months ago as an UDFA.
Not only has he been playing well in Dallas, but Childress actually has an opportunity to open the season as the starting nickel for the Cowboys after an impressive summer.
Injuries in the Cowboys’ secondary have opened up playing time for Childress, and he has taken full advantage of that alongside DaRon Bland and Kaiir Elam.
In the Cowboys’ first preseason game, Childress tallied six tackles against the Los Angeles Rams and will be looking to make more of an impact before Week 1.
It will be exciting to see the former Wildcat in action for the Cowboys in September.
