“I’m just happy I could help!”
Last week, after getting into her car to head to work, Carly Roxx began to hear a strange sound coming from below.
It was enough to give her pause.

“Before I started the car, I heard something banging underneath the car,” Roxx told The Dodo. “I got out and there he was, kinda stuck under the car. I was so scared.”
What Roxx saw was a helpless groundhog, whose head was stuck inside a plastic jar. He was disoriented and appeared to be struggling to breathe. Fearing the worst, Roxx ran to get her partner, Vince, for help.

Using an oscillating saw with a special blade (similar to those used by doctors to remove casts), Vince carefully loosened the lid of the jar to allow the groundhog to escape. It was a nerve-racking experience all around.
“I was definitely a little nervous, just because I’m sure he was angry and a bit nervous himself,” Vince told The Dodo. “But I couldn’t watch him suffer.”
Having put his fear aside to help, Vince was quick to skedaddle once the job was done. And the groundhog, now safe, made a hasty exit, too.
The jar, an old peanut butter container, was disposed of to avoid another mishap.

“I felt accomplished for saving the poor guy,” Vince said. “It was kind of a silly situation, but it had a very rewarding outcome. I’m just happy I could help!”
