Things are getting tense in the Bronx. The New York Yankees came into Sunday’s affair against Houston with a 62-55 record and third place in the American League East. New York sat just 1/2 game ahead of the Cleveland Guardians for the final wildcard in the American League. This was a team that was on cruise control the first couple of months of the season in the American League East. The Yankees now sit 5.5 games back of Toronto.
In the third inning of the game, to start the inning, Ryan McMahon was called for a low strike, which manager Aaron Boone did not like. He argued the call and was later ejected by home plate umpire Derek Thomas.
This was the fifth ejection of the season for Boone. That is the most in all of Major League Baseball. When the ejection happened, the Yankees trailed the game to Houston by a score of 2-0. The party started for Houston with a Jose Altuve solo home run in the first inning.

Boone has his star, Aaron Judge, back in the lineup. He returned on August 5th in Texas, but has yet to hit a home run since then. The slugger has not had a long ball since July 23.
