The Green Bay Packers failed their first test in the 2025 NFL preseason. On Saturday night, the Packers absorbed a 30-10 defeat at the hands of the New York Jets at Lambeau Field.

The good news for the Packers is that nothing significant is on the line in such games, and their preparation for the 2025 NFL regular season will continue. There are areas that still need fixing and improvement for the Packers, who, as expected, gave their starters limited action on the field

Among those who did not play for Green Bay was wide receiver Jayden Reed.

While many may have assumed that Reed is still being bothered by the toe injury that got him placed on the non-football injury list in the early goings of the training camp, he’s actually dealing with another kind of health issue.

Following the loss to the Jets, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur noted that Reed, who was seen sporting a walking boot, has a “different” injury this time around.

Via Rob Demovsky of ESPN:

Matt LaFleur said WR Jayden Reed being in a walking boot is not related to the toe injury he had before camp. This is something different.

When asked if he’s concerned about Week 1 for Reed, he said he hoped not but “anytime you see a guy in a boot that’s a concern.”

In two seasons in the NFL (both with the Packers), Reed has amassed 1,650 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns on 119 receptions and 169 targets through 33 games (23 starts).

Based on LaFleur’s statement, it’s unlikely that Reed will take the field in Week 2 of the NFL preseason versus the Indianapolis Colts on the road.
