There were so many of them 🤯
The parking lot at the Home Depot in Marina del Rey, California, was busy on Monday morning, with people coming and going as the day began. Out of nowhere, a red car sped into the parking lot, and the driver dumped a beer box on the ground and sped away again. A group of people in the parking lot went to investigate — and found a pile of tiny babies inside.

The group stayed with the kittens, telling everyone nearby what was happening, trying to figure out what to do. Luckily, a volunteer with Kitt Crusaders was in the right place at the right time. She saw what was going on and immediately offered to take the babies.

“When she saw how young they were, (she estimates about 5 days) she offered to foster,” Mary Shaughnessy of Kitt Crusaders told The Dodo. “She reached out to us, and we all scrambled and got her the food and supplies they needed and even an incubator!”
There were eight kittens in total, which is a lot of newborn babies for one foster to handle, so another foster stepped up to help, too.

Whoever abandoned these babies did so with no regard for their well-being or safety. Thankfully, the people in the parking lot at the time were determined to protect the kittens until they could get somewhere safe. Now, they have the chance to grow and thrive.

All eight kittens are doing well in the care of Kitt Crusaders and their fosters. They have a lot of growing to do before they can find their forever homes. Until then, they’re safe in the care of the rescue’s dedicated volunteers.
“It quite literally takes a village, and as you see, our fosters are the backbone of our group,” Shaughnessy said.
If you’d like to help these kittens, you can donate to Kitt Crusaders.
