Some Taylor Swift fans are reveling in NFL player C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s misfortune following his explicit remarks after Super Bowl LIX against her boyfriend Travis Kelce‘s Kansas City Chiefs.
On Thursday, Aug. 7, the Houston Texans safety suffered an injury during practice, per The Spun.
He was taken off the field by medical staff, unable to support his weight on an injured leg.
“It’sheartbreaking when you see a guy go down on the field like that and doesn’t get up quickly,” Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said of the injury. “I’m always nervous as a head coach any time I see someone hit the ground.”
Thankfully, Gardner-Johnson reportedly did not tear his ACL while defending wide receiver John Metchie.
Remembering Gardner-Johnson’s vulgar remarks about Swift and Kelce earlier this year, many Swifties took to social media to rejoice in the athlete’s unfortunate situation.
One Facebook user quipped, “What’s that song by Taylor those Swifties sing? Karma? In all seriousness, wishing you a Swift recovery!”
Another fan echoed, “Karma always wins!!!!!”
Someone else evoked Swift’s 2022 track, writing, “Sad news. Hope it is not serious. But Karma is a mean SOB.”
Meanwhile, on X, one Swift fan joked, “Karma is a relaxing thought or whatever she said…”
In February, Gardner-Johnson wore a hooded sweatshirt that read “Swifties Can LIX My Balls” at a celebration parade after the Eagles beat the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. He also hinted that the Chiefs might have won if Kelce continued dating his ex-girlfriend, Kayla Nicole.
“Should’ve stayed w that thick s–t,” he wrote on a photo of himself and Kelce via his Instagram Stories.
Swifties similarly declared “karma” when Gardner-Johnson was traded from the Eagles to the Texans in March.
