The Baltimore Orioles’ Grayson Rodriguez will miss the remainder of the season as the right-handed pitcher will have surgery on his pitching elbow next week. The debridement procedure is expected to clean out some bone fragments, according to masnsports.com.

Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino confirmed the news prior to Baltimore’s game in Philadelphia on Monday.

Rodriguez, 25, began the year on the injured list due to inflammation in his right elbow, which flared up during spring training. He was scheduled for a rehab outing on April 17, but it was canceled as a result of a strained lat muscle.

He was shut down in July by the Orioles, which Mansolino said at the time was due to Rodriguez feeling discomfort in the elbow.

A first-round pick by Baltimore in 2018, Rodriguez missed three months of the minor league season in 2022 because of a lat injury. He has not pitched in the majors since July 2024, finishing last season on the IL due to a strained lat.

In two big-league seasons with the Orioles, Rodriguez has gone 20-8 in 43 appearances — all starts — with a 4.11 ERA and 259 strikeouts in 238 2/3 innings.
