Taylor Swift on the field with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce, on January 28, 2024 in Baltimore, Maryland.
During “Family Fun Day” at training camp, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce received a visit from his mother, Donna Kelce.
Donna rocked her son’s No. 87 jersey and walked with her youngest son back to the locker room after practice. Fans immediately noticed Donna’s custom Chiefs hat, which honors both Kelce and his girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
Donna first debuted her black cap while sitting next to Swift at Arrowhead Stadium during the Chiefs’ 2024 NFL season opener. The decorative embroidery around the Chiefs’ logo features the birth flowers of October and December, a nod to her son and the pop star, both of whom are 35.
While fans were thrilled to see Donna in St. Joseph, Missouri, they were also thinking about Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce. Donna and Ed divorced in 2011 but remain on good terms. Over the weekend, Ed mourned the death of his girlfriend, Maureen Maguire.
Maureen died on August 1, 2025, as stated in her obituary. She was 74. Just days before her death, Ed visited Maureen in the hospital with her dog, Butch.
The Los Angeles Times referred to Maureen as Ed’s girlfriend in an exclusive interview in February 2024. They both gushed over spending time with Swift. While the pop star posed for pictures with Ed, “Hey,” Maureen said, pretending to be jealous, “that’s my boyfriend.” The comment made the 14-time Grammy winner laugh.

As condolences poured in for Papa Kelce, he reflected on happier times with his late girlfriend that featured Swift. In the picture, the “Cruel Summer” singer is holding what appears to be a homemade card and friendship bracelet. All three are decked out in Chiefs gear.
Ed credits Maureen for giving him a heads-up on who Swift was before meeting her for the first time. During an appearance on Audacy’s 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland, the Chiefs star’s dad admitted he couldn’t remember the singer’s name.
“When Travis has a lot of friends coming into town to go to the game, everyone meets at his house, although he’s not there… They have a shuttle that comes and picks everybody up and takes them to the game,” Ed said, while noting it’s impossible to remember everyone who was there that day.
“And Taylor comes in, walks in with a security guard and I look at her… and I had my girlfriend with me and I mention to Maureen, ‘Oh, my God, I know this kid but I don’t know what her name is.’ Geez, you know, like a real idiot.”
Maureen quipped back, “‘You don’t know her? This is Taylor Swift, you idiot.’”
Maureen Maguire’s Obituary Included a Special Tribute to Ed Kelce & Football
Maureen’s obituary included a special section reflecting on her relationship with Ed. “She also grew an unexpected love for football later in life, sharing many laughs and adventures with her beloved friend Ed Kelce and her loyal dog Butch.
“Together, they traveled often and attended football games and concerts, and embraced every opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest.”
