San Francisco 49ers star George Kittle disappointed some of his fans on Saturday night, but it’s not because of anything he did on the football field.

Kittle has been a fan favorite in the Bay Area since being drafted in 2017. Although the 49ers struggled in 2024, the six-time Pro Bowler hauled in 78 passes for 1,106 yards and eight touchdowns. He was rewarded this offseason with a four-year, $76.4 million contract extension.

The 49ers certainly expect Kittle to be great yet again this fall. After all, he has proven over the years that he’ll always produce as long as he’s healthy.

So why are 49ers fans upset with Kittle this Sunday? It turns out they didn’t appreciate his publicity stunt last night.

Country music singer Morgan Wallen had Kittle walk out on stage with him during Saturday’s concert at Levi’s Stadium. It’s no secret that Wallen has a lot of critics due to his questionable antics.

In February 2021, the award-winning country singer was caught using a racial slur in a video that leaked online. His record label at that time suspended his contract indefinitely.

“My words matter,” Wallen said. “A word can truly hurt a person, and at my core, it’s not what I’m OK with. This week I heard firsthand some personal stories from Black people that honestly shook me. And I know what I’m going through this week doesn’t even compare to some of the trials I heard about from them. I came away from those discussions with a deep appreciation for them and a clearer understanding of the weight of my words.”

Several 49ers fans ripped Kittle for associating with Wallen – even if it was just for a brief entrance.

“49ers love hanging with racists. Got it

“Damn Morgan Wallen hella racist

“EW Wtffff! Why would he do this? Morgan Wallen is a whole racist ass man,” a third fan wrote.

“That’s whack,” a social media user commented.

As of now, Kittle hasn’t addressed the backlash on social media.

Kittle wasn’t the only member of the 49ers at Saturday’s concert. All-Pro offensive tackle Trent Williams also walked out with Wallen.

It’s also worth noting that former San Francisco Giants star Barry Bonds and NFL legend Steve Young walked out with Wallen one day earlier.
