The Kansas City Chiefs know that surrounding Patrick Mahomes with as many weapons as possible will only bode well for them. Mahomes has proven he has the ability to make those around him better and maximize their strengths.
They added another one today.
Breaking: Chiefs Add 6’1″ Weapon For Patrick Mahomes (Report)

Matt McMullen, the Chiefs’ senior reporter, reported the team signed three players on Friday, August 1:
Two rookies — defensive back Ajani Carter and wide receiver Key’Shawn Smith — were among the Chiefs’ acquisitions, in addition to veteran defender Azizi Hearn.
Carter played for the Houston Cougars in 2024, recording 22 total tackles in 11 games. Smith, a former University of Miami Hurricane and Southern Methodist University Mustang, tallied 106 receptions for 1,581 yards and 13 touchdowns as a collegian.
Hearn began his NFL career in 2023, when he signed with the Las Vegas Raiders as an undrafted free agent.

While it seems unlikely that Carter, Smith, or Hearn will earn a spot on the Chiefs’ 53-man roster in 2025, their inclusion in Kansas City’s training camp activities may open doors for them if they earn playing time in the team’s preseason exhibitions later this month.
