Noah Syndergaard 4 IP, 5 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 1 K
Evan McKendry 4 13 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 2 K

After briefly getting above .500 last week, the Knights fell back below that mark with a rough stretch of games.

Right-handed starter Yoendrys Gómez, 25, provided some much-needed reliability during his nine innings of work. Gómez made two starts, and he was impossible for the Bulls (61-39) and Sounds (58-41) to solve. Despite facing strong lineups, Gómez was not fazed in the slightest, throwing nine shutout innings and striking out 14 while only issuing three walks.

The Barons had another great week, and they are on a tear in the second half of the season.

I regret to inform you that Tanner McDougal is human, as he had a rough start on Thursday to break his incredible run of excellent performances since late May. Instead, infielder Sam Antonacci, 22, won the weekly award this time around. Antonacci could hardly be kept off base, and after making it on base, he made his presence felt. Antonacci has spent most of this season in Winston-Salem, where played 63 games and slashed .280/.426/.413 with 27 stolen bases in 34 attempts. However, Antonacci is off to an even better start in Birmingham, where he has played nine games and slashed .400/.583/.520 with five steals in five attempts.

After Sunday’s game against Aberdeen (37-57) got cancelled due to inclement weather, the Dash are 4-4 since we last checked in.

Outfielder Braden Montgomery, 22, a major piece of the Garrett Crochet trade, had another nice week for the Dash. Montgomery started the year with Kannapolis, posting a .304/.393/.493 slash line in 18 games before getting promoted. Montgomery played 69 games with the Dash, posting a .260/.348/.445 slash line, and on Sunday, he earned a promotion to Birmingham. Congratulations to Montgomery on his second well-deserved promotion of the season, and it will be interesting to see how he handles Double-A.

Shortstop Caleb Bonemer, 19, who the White Sox selected in the second round in 2024, is really turning some heads. This is his fourth weekly award of the season and his second in the past three weekly updates. Bonemer was making life very difficult for the Mudcats pitching staff, as he got on-base nearly half the time against them. Their record was good enough to tie the ACL Rangers for the lead in the ACL West, but the tiebreaker went to the ACL Rangers.

Catcher Stiven Flores, 19, wrapped up the season on a high note, as he claimed his second weekly award of the season. Flores provided a lot of offensive consistency from a position where it does not often come from. Flores went 6-for-11 with a double to boost his season slash line to .289/.340/.394.

Catcher Jose M. Mendoza, 17, could not be stopped, as he went 6-for-13 with a homer, two doubles, three walks, and nine RBIs. That incredible performance resulted in a 1.409 OPS from a premium position, and the DSL White Sox would have struggled immensely without him. That home run was the first in the very early stages of Mendoza’s professional career. In 19 games, all with the DSL White Sox, Mendoza is slashing .396/.475/.528, nearly doubling what is known as the Mendoza line.
