NFL Takes Back Major Punishment Against Packers’ $48 Million Star

Josh Jacobs has been a welcome addition to the Green Bay Packers after signing a four-year, $48 million free agent deal in March. The All-Pro running back is averaging 4.8 yards per carry and has racked up 89- scrimmage yards and four touchdowns in nine games entering Sunday.

Back on Sept. 27, Jacobs’ pockets got a bit lighter after the NFL fined him $45,020 for unnecessary roughness/use of helmet against Tennessee Titans defensive back Quandre Diggs in Week 3. However, it appears the 26-year-old Packers star has fended off punishment after all According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Jacobs’ Week 3 fine has been wiped out by the league.

“Josh Jacobs’ $45,020 fine has been rescinded in its entirety, per his agent Chad Wiestling,” Pelissero wrote on X. “The second time in as many years Jacobs has had a fine for use of helmet erased on appeal. A third fine was also reduced.” Josh Jacobs’ $45,020 fine has been rescinded in its entirety, per his agent Chad Wiestling. Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) November 10, 2024 Jacobs was fined over $43,000 for two separate use-of-helmet offenses in 2023, which put him higher on the NFL’s radar entering the 2024 season. In early September, Jacobs was listed among more than 20 players in a league memo that warned teams about the ramifications of future safety violation

“The NFL recently sent a memo to more than 20 players and the teams that they play for, emphasizing the importance of safety and sportsmanship and warning them that they would face suspensions if there are any violations, league sources told ESPN,” NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Sept. 8. Jacobs and company are on a bye week on Sunday but return to game action in Week 11 against the NFC North rival Chicago Bears.
