The clock is ticking.
The Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons have yet to agree to a record-setting contract extension. It certainly seems like it’ll happen eventually.
But it should come across the table sooner rather than later if these sides want to keep everything amicable.

The Athletic’s Jon Machota explains:
“With Dallas being in the first year with a new head coach and largely new coaching staff, it seems to be in everyone’s best interest for Parsons and the Cowboys to get something worked out before the first camp practice, which is scheduled for July 22.”

Parsons is looking at some kind of record, or two.
He should get more than the $40 million per year that Myles Garrett got from the Browns. He also likely will get more than the four years Garrett got. That’ll push him above $200 million on the total contract value.

He has at least 12.0 sacks in each of his first four NFL seasons out of Penn State. He’s a bonafide superstar.
The negotiations could drag on, and it would just serve as a distraction.
It’s certainly within Parsons’ rights to wait for the offer he deserves, so it’s really up to Jerry Jones to bring the best deal he has to the table to get this thing done.
