Cowboys second-year offensive lineman Tyler Guyton has been hard at work this offseason

The Dallas Cowboys are hoping that the 2025 campaign will be a bounce-back year for them. After laboring through the 2024 season, posting a 7-10 record, the Cowboys have focused on getting healthy this offseason and rounding out the edges of their roster. One player they will be hoping can take a step forward is their 2024 first-round pick, offensive tackle Tyler Guyton.

As a rookie, Guyton endured an uneven season, even though he played in 15 games, 11 of which were starts. He is penciled in as the team’s starting left tackle heading into the new campaign, but Dallas will be hoping to see more consistent production from him in his second season. The good news is that he’s been hard at work this offseason, with his latest activity during his downtime catching the attention of fans.

Tyler Guyton Attends ‘Big & Beautiful’ Summit

After a strong collegiate career with the TCU Horned Frogs and Oklahoma Sooners, Guyton entered the 2024 draft with hopes of being a first-round pick. Sure enough, the Cowboys selected him at the backend of the round, using the No. 29 pick on him with hopes that he would man the left tackle position for them for years to come.

Guyton won the starting left tackle job out of training camp, but after struggling, he was sent to the bench for four of the final five games of the season. It was an inconsistent year overall for Dallas’ offense as a whole, but Guyton did not live up to the hype of a plug-and-play Week 1 starter, as it was evident that he was going to need some time to develop.

That starts with putting in the work needed over the offseason, which is something Guyton has been focusing on doing. This week, he ended up attending the “Big & Beautiful” offensive line summit, which was hosted by former legendary Dallas offensive lineman Tyron Smith. After his rocky debut season, fans were excited to see Guyton was looking for ways to improve his game before his second season.

“Cowboys Tyler Guyton attended the ‘Big and Beautiful’ OL summit in Las Vegas, created by Athletes First and hosted by former Cowboy, Tyron Smith,” Brandon Loree of Blogging The Boys shared in a post on X. “One of the three days took place at the UFC center in LV, where they worked on fighter style drills.”

Considering the first-round label Guyton has attached to his name, he will be expected to improve for the Cowboys in 2025. Attending an offensive line summit to meet with folks across the league who play the same position as him, while also working on refining his skills, is exactly the type of work he’s going to have to put in to be successful and keep his employer happy.

The left tackle is arguably the most important position on the offensive line, which only makes Guyton’s task more difficult, as he will be protecting star quarterback Dak Prescott’s blindside. It’s clear that Guyton has the potential to become a star on the o-line, he just has to put all the pieces of the puzzle together. Based on his latest offseason work, it may be wise to bank on him taking a big step forward next season.
