Red Sox 0, Blue Jays 9: Another garbo game

My doctor told me this morning that the medication for my herniated discs is known for causing cognitive and emotional issues. So if I say that my eyes brimmed with tears throughout this game, is that a reflection of the pain, the meds, or the state of play on the field?

Toronto scored quickly in the first and the Sox looked just as ineffectual as we’ve come to expect. Brayan Bello was inefficient in the early innings, going deep into counts yet not being able to put batters away. The Red Sox offense had the opposite problem: they were up then down way too quickly.

The Sox have now lost six in a row, the first time that’s happened since 2022.

Studs

I’m not allowed to name any Blue Jays here, right? Because otherwise, I’m out of options.

Duds

Pitching

Brayan Bello gave up three runs through the first three innings and while he ended up with a quality start, it came as a surprise because it never looked or felt that way. He settled down in the fourth but gave up too much, too soon.

Luis Guerrero and Brennan Bernardino, between them, allowed eight Jays to bat in the seventh. Utility man Nate Eaton took the mound in the ninth and actually acquitted himself fairly well.

As a group, our pitchers issued eight walks and only two strikeouts, as well as a wild pitch. That won’t cut it.

Offense

DOA and unable to revive.

Play of the Game

I got nothing.
