A new Patriots roster addition won’t make his debut this Sunday.

New England on Saturday ruled out defensive end Yannick Ngakoue for its matchup against the Chicago Bears. The Patriots claimed the 29-year-old off waivers Friday. They then released linebacker Raekwon McMillan as a corresponding move.

The decision to rule out Ngakoue shouldn’t come as a surprise. The ninth-year edge rusher was just added to the team after he was cut by the Baltimore Ravens before their game Thursday night. He’ll get time next week to get integrated with Jerod Mayo’s side and possibly play in Week 11.

NFL analysts believe Ngakoue drew the short end of the stick by getting claimed by the Patriots. But New England hopes the veteran can be a serviceable pass-rusher and help get a bad defense up to average in the second half of the season.
