Tom Brady’s loyalties should be torn when 49ers face Buccaneers in Week 10

1 p.m. ET. 4-4. Fox. Sunday, Nov. 10. 49ers-Bucs preview. 49ers -5.5. 42. 4-5. 48

A boyhood 49ers fan, who happened to play for the Buccaneers, Tom Brady might have opposing rooting interests when the Niners visit the Bucs in Week 10.

The San Francisco 49ers are 0-2 when soon-to-be Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady is performing color commentary for their games on Fox Sports this season.

Previously, Brady was on the in-game analysis for the Niners’ losses against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5 and against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7.

San Francisco hopes Brady’s presence doesn’t turn into an 0-3 mark after Week 10’s road showdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Especially considering 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy hasn’t exactly put together solid performances in front of Fox’s new color analyst.

Deep down, it’ll be fun to think about what kind of rooting interest Brady will have in the game.

A native of San Mateo, California, Brady grew up a major Niners fan, even attending San Francisco’s legendary 1982 NFC Championship win over the Dallas Cowboys that featured “The Catch” by the late great, wide receiver Dwight Clark.

However, after a legacy-setting career with the New England Patriots, Brady went on to win yet another Super Bowl with the Bucs in February of 2021, marking the 10th time he’d been on the NFL’s biggest stage.

You can’t root for both teams, Tom. And you can’t say, “I just hope both teams have fun” either.

Brady rejoins Fox Sports’ play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt for Sunday’s Week 10 contest between San Francisco and Tampa Bay.

Additionally, Tom Rinaldi and Erin Andrews will be on the sidelines providing updates from both teams.

The game itself kicks off on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. ET from Raymond James Stadium.
