Update: Former Green Bay Packers Cornerback Signs with the Dallas Cowboys

The Green Bay Packers are certainly going to have a very different cornerback room in 2025 compared to the one that they had in 2024.

Of course, the biggest news story of the week regarding the Packers secondary, or rather former players they had in that room, was two-time Pro Bowler Jaire Alexander signing a one-year contract with a $4 million base salary with the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday.

Green Bay had previously released Alexander when they two sides could not come to an agreement on a restructured contract. Despite being one of the highest-paid cornerbacks in the NFL, the former Packers star struggled to stay on the field, playing in just 34 of a possible 68 games over the last four years, and just 14 of a possible 34 over the last two.

The Green Bay Packers Saw Many of Their Cornerbacks Leave in Free Agency

Over the course of the NFL offseason, the Packers added Nate Hobbs in free agency and Micah Robinson in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft. And while they expect both of these players to have some sort of role on the team this upcoming year (Hobbs is expected to be the starting slot corner), their depth pieces are going to be very different compared to last season.

Eric Stokes, whom Green Bay selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, signed with the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency as the Packers decided not to pick up his fifth-year option, making him a free agent after last season ended.

Additionally, Corey Ballentine was signed by the Indianapolis Colts.

As it stands, Green Bay’s cornerback depth begins with Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine as the projected starters on the boundary.

As mentioned, Hobbs is believed to be the starting slot corner. After them, the Packers will rely on Robinson, Kalen King, and any one (or two) of Kamal Hadden, Isaiah Dunn, Gregory Junior, Javon Bullard (in the slot), or Tyron Herring.

Of course, wide receiver Bo Melton is also an intriguing name to watch as he started practicing with the cornerbacks during mandatory minicamp.

Another former Packers cornerback that departed Green Bay this offseason was Robert Rochell. A Super Bowl Champion with the Los Angeles Rams, Rochell played the last two seasons for the Packers, spending a great deal of time on the practice squad, but appearing in 20 games (mostly on special teams).

Earlier this year, Rochell was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs. However, they released him during OTAs not long after.

On Wednesday, it was reported that he had finally found a new team: the Dallas Cowboys:

Rochell surely faces an uphill battle to make Dallas’ roster seeing as he was already cut by another NFL team during OTAs. However, his abilities as a gunner on special teams could give him a chance to at least make their practice squad.
