Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens appears to have a very different opinion of himself than the public in Pittsburgh.
When the Dallas Cowboys traded for George Pickens of the Pittsburgh Steelers, questions arose about what he’d look like on the field. Pickens is one of the top wide receivers in the NFL, but his issues, both on and off the field, are certainly concerning.
His pure talent isn’t.
Pickens understands that, and so do the Cowboys. If they want to be the team they’re looking to be this season, they need him to be on the same page as everybody on the rest of the roster. The Cowboys have Super Bowl aspirations, and while it might be a long shot given the numerous issues on their roster, Pickens will be a big part in accomplishing that goal.
When speaking to reporters about his situation, he’s continued to praise quarterback Dak Prescott. Prescott is one of the nicest guys in the NFL, and he’s loved by many around the league.
“He’s [Prescott] controlling everything. All the stuff, all the plays are based on him. I get to see how he wants to run his stuff, how Schotty [head coach Brian Schottenheimer] is calling it. Everything is connecting slowly but surely,” Pickens said Wednesday, per CBS .
George Pickens’ Relationship With Dak Prescott
It’s fantastic to hear Pickens has excellent things to say about Prescott, who also shared his thoughts about the Dallas Cowboys’ newest edition.
Many thought that Prescott could end up being frustrated with some of Pickens’ off-the-field and on-the-field antics, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
He told reporters that they need to form their own opinion, and that’s what the Cowboys seem to be doing.
“I think that’s why you should never really listen to what somebody else says about somebody,” Prescott said Thursday. “I think you should find out for yourself who they are and allow them to reveal their character to you. The guy’s been great. He’s been phenomenal.”
Cowboys Have Glowing Praise for George Pickens
Prescott isn’t the only Dallas Cowboys player or coach who has spoken positively about Pickens so far. That includes new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, who admitted that Pickens has done an excellent job for them, and he’s pleased with the way that Prescott has shown him the ropes.
“He comes to work every day with a smile on his face,” Schottenheimer said Thursday. “He’s very personal when you get to know him. I love being around him. I love talking to him about life. I love shooting baskets against him. I love just watching him. … He’s been amazing. He was the last guy to leave the practice field today. I think that speaks volumes of the fact that he’s excited about what we’re building. I’m a big GP fan.”
There’s still plenty that has to play out for the Cowboys over the next few months, as this is very early stages of the offseason.
However, Pickens seems to be in a great spot, and for now, that’s all the Cowboys and he can ask for. If this trend continues, there’s reason to believe Dallas could be in a strong position regarding its future.
The Cowboys need him, and all sides seem to understand that.
