It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for!

The Boston Red Sox have finally seen enough and are promoting top prospect Roman Anthony, according to Christopher Smith of MassLive. Wilyer Abreu is headed to the injured list to make room, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Katie Morrison O’Day of MassLive talked to the man himself soon after he got the news, posting video to X.

Anthony, 21, has been dominating the minor leagues, slashing .288/.423/.491 with 10 home runs and 29 RBIs in 58 games with Triple-A Worcester. It’s been a long time coming for the consensus top prospect in baseball, who continuously received accolades from the organization and media while crushing baseballs at Polar Park.

Anthony’s first game will come against the Tampa Bay Rays, with first pitch set for 7:10 p.m. ET on Monday. The Red sox will bat him fifth in the lineup in his debut.
