Boston Red Sox prospect hits absurd Grand Slam in Triple-A

Boston Red Sox prospect Roman Anthony is pretty good at baseball. Everyone can agree on that. It’s rightfully become a point of complaint among Boston fans that the 21-year-old is not in the majors yet.

His performance on Saturday added more to his highlight reel and more to the case that he shouldn’t be in Triple-A anymore. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Anthony came up with the bases loaded. He proceeded to not only hit a grand slam, but hit one of the most majestic ones you’ll ever see.

The ball left Anthony’s bat at 115.6 MPH. He hit it 497 feet. That is not a typo. The ball traveled 497 feet. Anthony’s grand slam was longer than any home run hit in the big leagues in 2025 (Mike Trout has the longest at 484 feet).

Not only was his offensive showing incredible, but his defense matched it. He made a diving play earlier in the game to take away an extra-base hit.

Red Sox prospect Roman Anthony breaks the baseball world with unreal grand slam

It’s been incredibly hard to find any justifiable reasons for the Red Sox to be holding Anthony in the minor leagues. We can all safely assume it is service time manipulation, even if they try to claim different reasons.

The frustration of fans has been boiling over as the Red Sox continue to lose games. Seeing the team fall out of playoff contention while the best prospect in baseball does otherwordly things in Worcester doesn’t help their blood pressure.

The Red Sox can’t ignore Anthony for much longer. His towering grand slam was the talk of baseball social media, and baseball fans have been laughing at the Red Sox for keeping Anthony in Triple-A for weeks now. Those laughs are going to get louder.

The perfect time to promote Anthony was any time before today. The next best time is right now. Don’t wait for Anthony to break the internet again, because if Boston gives him a few days, he will.
