Kansas City Chiefs star defensive tackle Chris Jones remains a benchmark in the eyes of other players in his position. Among them is none other than Philadelphia Eagles youngster Jalen Carter, who just won a Super Bowl last February at the expense of Jones and the Chiefs.
Even though he already has two years in the NFL and a Super Bowl ring, Carter knows he’s still not quite on the same tier as other elite pass rushers like Jones.

“I know who’s good and I know who everybody loves,” Carter said this week at OTAs. “Dexter Lawrence, Chris Jones. All of them. I see it, but at the end of the day, I’m still grinding and just doing my own thing. If my name pops up, then I guess congratulations to me. Just keep going.”
Kansas City Chiefs celebrate Jones’ No. 1 PFF rank

Jones, 30, may have lost a chance to add another Super Bowl ring to his collection because of the Chiefs’ loss to Philadelphia, but his individual track record in the league can’t be questioned. He is a six-time Pro Bowler, a three-time Super Bowl champion and owns the NFL’s all-time record for most games in a row with at least a sack (11).
As a testament to his status as one of the best in the league, Pro Football Focus ranked him the No. 1 overall interior defender heading into the 2025 NFL season – something that the Chiefs celebrated on social media.
