Everything We Know About Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Season 2

The often-imitated, never-equaled Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders are officially coming back to Netflix this summer, which means we’ve got another season of high kicks, jump splits, “yes ma’am’s” and “Thunderstruck ” dances. But before we can head back to Dallas, Texas, we need to catch up on what happened during the show’s first season. Keep scrolling for a quick recap of season 1 of the hit reality TV show America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and learn what we know about its follow-up season.

What to know about ‘America’s Sweethearts’ Season 2

Given how successful Season 1 of  America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders was, the announcement of the second season wasn’t a surprise to anyone. As of now, it is expected to be the same as Season 1 in the sense that it will follow the cheerleaders from the beginning of their season to the end.

One thing that remains a mystery, though, is who the show will choose to feature this time. At the end of last season, five-year veteran Kelsey Wetterberg and four-year veteran Victoria Kalina announced that they were retiring. On the other hand, third year Madeline Salter, second year candidates Reece Weaver, Anna Kate Sundvold, Camille Sturdivan and rookies Kelly Villares and Charly Barby are still on the team, as confirmed by the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Instagram; however it’s unclear if Netflix will choose them like they did in the shows first season.

There is also no news on what Netflix will choose to focus on this season, but if it’s anything like the first one there will be a lot of conversations of their dance technique, the cheerleaders’ lives during training camp and football season and how the organization deals with the criticism they get for things like body standards and how much the cheerleaders get paid—which is estimated to be $75,000, even though they have practices at least five days week, not including appearances and games.

“I know there’s a lot of controversy w ith how much we get paid and stuff like that. I’m grateful that we do get paid because, in some instances, some NFL programs do not get paid as much as we do. So, we are very grateful in that sense,” Weaver said on Matt Howard’s Unplanned podcast in August 2024.

“Like any other NFL cheerleader, you have to be able to have another income coming in [and] you have to have another job with it. Yes, you do see these football players and you’re, like, ‘Wow, you are making so much money,’ but at the end of this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and because it is so prestigious, not everyone can say they’re a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. That in itself is a chapter I’m always going to cherish.”

There is no word on how many episodes there will be, but in Season 1, there were seven hour-long ones that all debuted simultaneously, so it’s safe to say that the same format will be repeated in Season 2, especially since Emmy Award-winning director Greg Whiteley is expected to return.
