Having already pulled a bold move for receiver George Pickens, the Dallas Cowboys are reportedly considering a trade for cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
FRISCO – Maybe the Dallas Cowboys aren’t done making “substantive” moves.
First a trade for receiver George Pickens. Now a deal for three-time All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey is reportedly in the works.
With Trevon Diggs recovering from January knee surgery, the Cowboys could use a veteran to pair with DaRon Bland. Former Cowboy Stephon Gilmore keeps gettin mentioned as a free-agent signing, but ESPN thinks Jerry Jones could be considering a much bolder move for Ramsey.
He’s apparently on the trading block with the Dolphins. Miami general manager Chris Grier has confirmed that Ramsey’s time with the organization is all but over as the two have mutually agreed to look for a trade partner saying, “it was probably in the best interest for all parties to move forward (separately).” Now NFL insider Jeremy Fowler reported this week that the Cowboys have interest along with the Los Angeles Rams and Washington Commanders.
Ramsey is 30, last made All-Pro in 2021 and has had two knee surgeries in the last three seasons. And there’s the financial obstacle, in which the Cowboys would have to pay his $24.3 million salary in 2025.
The Cowboys this offseason have already traded for former Buffalo Bills’ first-round draft pick Kaiir Elam. But if Jerry wants to make yet another substantive move, Ramsey would fit the bill.
On the cornerback depth chart the Cowboys also have Shavon Revel, Caelen Carson and Minnesota Vikings’ second-round draft pick Andrew Booth.
