Adrian Houser pitched six shutout innings in his team debut and Joshua Palacios drove in the game’s lone run as the Chicago White Sox edged the visiting Seattle Mariners 1-0 on Tuesday.

The teams navigated a 95-minute rain delay to start the night before the White Sox stopped a five-game losing streak in a combined four-hitter.

Chase Meidroth, Lenyn Sosa and Palacios contributed two hits each to help Chicago end the Mariners’ four-game winning streak. Meidroth scored on Palacios’ third-inning single.

Seattle loaded the bases with one out in the eighth but Cam Booser ended the threat by striking out pinch hitter Mitch Garver and retiring Julio Rodriguez on a flyout to center.

Rodriguez smacked an eighth-inning grand slam against Booser on Monday to propel the Mariners to a 5-1 win.

Chicago’s Jordan Leasure worked around Donovan Solano’s two-out double in the ninth to pick up his first save of the season.

Casey Legumina served as Seattle’s opener, working around a single and a walk to deliver a scoreless first inning. He gave way to fellow right-hander Casey Lawrence, who kept the Mariners afloat with five innings of one-run, six-hit ball.

Lawrence (1-2) struck out two and didn’t walk a batter while throwing 48 of his 68 pitches for strikes.

Lawrence became the sixth player in Mariners franchise history to have three separate stints with the club. His second of those came to start the season. He signed a minor league deal with the Mariners this month after beginning 2025 with Seattle and later joining the Toronto Blue Jays on a waiver claim.

Houser (1-0) experienced an odyssey of his own. The veteran right-hander, who opened the season with Triple-A Round Rock in the Texas Rangers organization, signed a one-year, $1.35 million deal with Chicago on Tuesday. He got the call in place of scheduled starter Bryse Wilson, who will return to the bullpen.

Houser permitted two hits and three walks while striking out two.

Meidroth went 2-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to eight games.

Chicago finished 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position while Seattle was 0-for-6.
