Eagles have targets on their backs with two of the top revenge games in 2025

After winning the Super Bowl last season, the Philadelphia Eagles will have primary targets on their backs, and some teams are looking for revenge.

Two of those teams are the ones that the Eagles beat in their final two playoff games to take home the Lombardi Trophy. The Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Commanders were embarrassed by Philadelphia as they outscored 95-45.

Of the revenge games coming up in 2025, the rematches for the Eagles against the Chiefs and Commanders are catching the most attention.

How the Eagles two revenge games rank against the rest of the 2025 NFL schedule

Bleacher Report writer Kristopher Knox ranked the top 10 revenge games on the 2025 NFL schedule. The Eagles got two games that cut the top five.

5. Week 2 at Kansas City Chiefs

“Super Bowl rematches are always fun, and this year’s game between the Chiefs and Eagles will be no exception. Kansas City will look to avenge a loss that prevented the team from becoming the first franchise in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls.”

“Players like Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce will want another shot at the Eagles, as will head coach Andy Reid—if for no other reason than to build a bit more confidence ahead of the postseason. And this should be an entertaining game, as Philly and Kansas City remain two of the NFL’s top title contenders.”

Knox mentioned that this wasn’t ranked higher because the game is so early in the regular season. It still makes for an intriguing matchup as both teams should be healthy with it being earlier.

The series has gone back and forth in recent years, with the Eagles winning the last two matchups. Before that, Kansas City had won four straight against Philadelphia.

Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes facing off again makes it one of the best quarterback matchups of the year. Reid, facing the Eagles, is always a revenge game for him after spending over 10 years as the Eagles’ head coach.

3. Week 16 at Washington Commanders

“What’s better than a late-season standalone game between bitter division rivals? How about a game between two of the most exciting young quarterbacks in the NFL and a rematch of the latest NFC Championship Game.”

“That’s what fans will get when the Commanders host the Eagles in Week 16. This is a game that could carry significant consequences in the race for the NFC East crown and the top seed in the conference. It’s also a game that could allow Daniels and the Commanders to earn a little revenge.”

“You can bet Quinn—who also spent three years battling the Eagles as the Dallas Cowboys’ defensive coordinator—would love to get a little revenge in front of a home crowd late this season.”

There have been many close games between the Commanders and Eagles, but Philadelphia has owned the series, winning seven of the last nine meetings. Prior to the NFC Championship game, the four matchups were decided by one possession.

The Eagles play the Commanders twice in the last three weeks of the regular season, which means the NFC East title will be on the line when these two teams face off.
