Can Aaron Judge hit .400? One bettor will win $350,000 if the New York Yankees’ slugger can pull it off

New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge is very good at baseball — this we know.

But the defending American League MVP is on a torrid pace this season, leading the majors in batting average (.410), wins above replacement (3.6), RBI (40), on-base percentage (.497), slugging percentage (.770) and hits (66) and tied for the lead with 14 home runs.

Not surprisingly, Judge is already an overwhelming -1600 favorite to win the AL MVP award again at BetMGM, which translates to an implied probability of 94.1%.

But one BetMGM bettor is looking for a huge payout on an even rarer feat for Judge: Becoming the first player to hit .400 since Ted Williams averaged .406 in 1941.

The bettor wagered $2,000 that Judge will hit .400 or higher in the 2025 MLB season at 175-1 odds, meaning a payout of $350,000 if the Yankees’ star is successful.

San Diego Padres great Tony Gwynn has come the closest to hitting .400 since Williams, batting .394 before the 1994 season was canceled due to a strike.

The Yankees are currently 24-18 and have a three-game lead over the Boston Red Sox in the AL East. Of course, after losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series last season, Judge has bigger team goals on his mind — but it would be the story of the season if he can even flirt with hitting .400.
