As if the Philadelphia Eagles’ recent Super Bowl title couldn’t get any sweeter, it surely did on draft night.
At the tail end of the 2025 NFL Draft, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman made a phone call to the team his roster had just beaten a few months back in Super Bowl LIX.
It’s rare that you get the opportunity to not only defeat a team in the Super Bowl, but come back around and swing a deal with that very same club; one that could end up being the steal of the first round, too.
But, that’s exactly what Roseman and the Eagles did when they flipped picks with the Kansas City Chiefs in order to move up one spot and select linebacker Jihaad Campbell out of Alabama.
Video shows Howie Roseman’s shock after swinging the draft day trade with Kansas City
In a video posted by the official Eagles social media account, Roseman’s entire phone conversation with Chiefs general manager Brett Veach was captured.
Fans will notice that Roseman had to give a little in order to land this deal with the Chiefs, noting that he was going to take a defensive player. This, above all else, would tell the Chiefs everything they needed to know.
And still, Roseman only had to give up pick 164 in order to make this happen.
“I can’t believe we did that! We did that!” Roseman shouted.
Seconds later was the phone call which changed Campbell’s life forever.
“Jihaad, we got you,” Roseman stated.
Eagles fans will be buzzing even more after watching this video a couple of times over. Roseman’s judge of talent, especially when it comes to collegiate talent, has been arguably the best in the league for years now.
Somehow, some way, Roseman keeps getting away with it. The league continues to allow him to steal away top talent, specifically on the defensive side of the ball, over and over again.
This is just another example of Roseman working his magic to perfection, and he knows it. He knows exactly the type of heist he pulled off in that deal with the Chiefs.
It’s almost as if they added insult to injury, here. The Eagles went ahead and beat them in the Super Bowl and followed it up by pulling off a draft night trade for a game-changing linebacker.
He did it again. Roseman went out and did it again.
