Bregman brought two World Series rings with him to Boston. Dustin Pedroia helped set a previous standard of winning with his own championship pedigree with the Red Sox.
The retired Boston infielder stepped up to help recruit Bregman this winter and shared pieces of the pitch when he joined NESN’s “Unobstructed Views” Tuesday night with Jared Carrabis, Jonathan Papelbon and Alanna Rizzo on the Red Sox alt-cast.

“If you win in Boston, it’s the best place in the world. It’s challenging every day. They demand you to play hard.”

“When I was asked to make those calls, I was just telling the truth in my experiences in playing in Boston,” Pedroia said. “At the end of the day, we’re all grown men. Everyone has families. They make their own decisions. I can only give my personal take on what my experience was like. If you win in Boston, it’s the best place in the world. It’s challenging every day. They demand you to play hard. I just told him my experiences because I don’t know anywhere else.”

While the team has faltered around the .500 mark, Bregman’s transition into the lineup is going as well as the Red Sox could have hoped. He sets the tone at the top of the batting average and OPS leaderboards among third basemen around the American League. Pedroia enjoyed his role in bringing the All-Star to the Red Sox and hopes that the impact of Bregman takes full power in Boston.
“It was all positive,” Pedroia added. “I think he appreciated that. We talked some numbers here and there. I said, ‘Listen, man. I’m not an agent. I’m not writing checks. I can just tell you what it’s like in Boston. It worked out. He’s playing great. I think he’s liking it. Hopefully it continues for a long time.
