Braves bats back shaky Sale in 8-2 win over Diamondbacks

The Atlanta Braves singled and doubled their way to their sixth win in seven tries against the Dimaondbacks on Friday night, recording 11 hits on their way to an 8-2 win.

The pitching matchup of Chris Sale and Zac Gallen carried a ton of name value, but on Friday night, both pitchers painfully labored through the early innings with no semblance of command.

The Braves did something in the second inning that was a sight for sore eyes — string together a bunch of hits (without the benefit of a homer) to put up a crooked number. Michael Harris singled and Eli White bounced a ball down the left field line to plate the first run of the game. Arizona native Alex Verdugo followed with a sky-scraping bloop double that landed perfectly on the left field line to make it 2-0. Austin Riley followed with an RBI single to make it 3-0.

In the fourth, as Sale logged his 90th (!) pitch, Arizona trimmed the lead by one with a two-out single by way of Jorge Barrosa.

Sale’s stuff looks fine and his fastball velocity was in the mid-upper 90s on Friday. There were many two-strike counts where Sale just couldn’t put Arizona’s hitters away. He just doesn’t have any command of the baseball. It seems to be a mechanical issue at this point, and hopefully one the coaching staff can figure out immediately.

Gallen only lasted five innings himself before giving way to the bullpen. He threw 59 pitches the first two innings and managed to settled in after the second.

The Braves scratched across two more runs in the sixth. With two on and two out, Eli White chopped a ball on the infield. Eugenio Suarez had to rush his throw from third and skipped it, allowing a run to come home and score. Nick Allen followed with an RBI single the other way that just snuck past the second baseman to make it 5-1.

In the bottom of the seventh, Dylan Lee entered and nearly surrendered a two-run shot to Corbin Carroll, but the call was overturned on replay and went just wide of the foul pole. It would have cut the lead to 5-3 but mercifully did not.

In the eighth, the Braves broke the game wide open. Sean Murphy doubled, Ozzie Albies doubled and Eli White singled to push the score to 7-1. Riley added another base knock the extend the lead to 8-1.

The Diamondbacks scored one against Jesse Chavez in the 8th, but that would be all she wrote.

The Braves have won six of seven. Their record is 11-14.

If you didn’t stay up late to watch, a tidy summary of the night’s action is here:

The series continues Saturday night in Phoenix as Grant Holmes is set to face righty Merrill Kelly, who enters with a 3-1 record, 4.73 ERA, 4.26 FIP and 4.67 xFIP. Holmes will need to have his command against an Arizona lineup that ranks near the top of the league in walk rate and on base percentage. First pitch is a little earlier at 8:10 p.m. ET.

🏆 IMMORTALIZED FOREVER: THE BRAVES JUST GAVE BRIAN SNITKER THE ULTIMATE HONOR AT TRUIST PARK ❤️⚾ In a moment filled with emotion, legacy, and deep respect, the Atlanta Braves officially unveiled a statue honoring manager Brian Snitker outside Truist Park — cementing his place forever in franchise history. 👏🔥 For Braves fans, this wasn’t just about celebrating a manager. It was about honoring loyalty. Patience. Leadership. And a man who dedicated decades of his life to the organization long before championship parades and national headlines arrived. 💥 Snitker climbed through every level of the Braves system, enduring rebuilding years, criticism, uncertainty, and pressure — yet never stopped believing in the culture he helped build. That unwavering commitment eventually led Atlanta back to baseball’s mountaintop with a World Series title and one of the most respected clubhouses in MLB. 🏆⚾ Now his legacy stands permanently outside Truist Park as a reminder that greatness isn’t always built overnight. Sometimes it’s built quietly through years of sacrifice, trust, and relentless belief in an organization’s future. Fans at the ceremony reportedly became emotional seeing the statue revealed, with many calling Snitker one of the most important figures the Braves franchise has ever had. And honestly, it’s hard to argue against that. ❤️ Because championships may define eras… …but loyalty is what makes legends immortal. 🔥 #Braves #BrianSnitker #AtlantaBraves #MLB #TruistPark

🚨 THE BRAVES MAY SOON FACE SOME TOUGH DECISIONS — AND A FEW PLAYERS ARE RUNNING OUT OF TIME 👀⚾ For years, the Atlanta Braves have built one of baseball’s strongest cultures around consistency, accountability, and winning expectations. But as the season continues, it’s becoming harder to ignore that several players may already be slipping dangerously close to losing their current roles within the organization. 😳🔥 In Atlanta, talent alone has never guaranteed security. The Braves expect production. Execution. Composure in big moments. And right now, a handful of players are struggling to provide the stability this roster desperately needs during a season filled with pressure and postseason expectations. 💥 Whether it’s inconsistency at the plate, defensive mistakes, bullpen struggles, or missed opportunities in critical situations, fans are starting to notice patterns that can no longer be brushed aside. And with Atlanta built to compete for championships NOW, patience may not last forever. ⚠️ What makes this situation even more intense is the depth waiting behind them. Young talent is pushing. Coaches are evaluating everything. Front office pressure is growing. And in a clubhouse chasing October success, roles can disappear much faster than people expect. 👀 That’s why Braves Nation is suddenly asking a difficult question: Who will respond to the pressure… and who may already be playing themselves out of Atlanta’s future plans? 🔥⚾ #Braves #AtlantaBraves #MLB #BravesCountry #Baseball

🚨 THE TWINS CANNOT AFFORD TO LET RYAN JEFFERS BECOME “JUST ANOTHER GOOD PLAYER” WHO LEAVES MINNESOTA ⚾🔥 In a baseball era obsessed with superstar headlines and blockbuster contracts, Ryan Jeffers has quietly become something every contender desperately needs — reliable, tough, intelligent, and deeply connected to the identity of the Minnesota Twins. 👀💙 He may not always dominate national conversations, but inside the clubhouse and throughout Twins Nation, Jeffers has steadily evolved into one of the most important pieces of this roster. His power at the plate, game-calling behind it, leadership with pitchers, and ability to deliver in big moments make him far more valuable than casual fans often realize. 💥 And that’s exactly why many believe Minnesota needs to think beyond short-term roster management and commit to keeping Jeffers for the long haul. Because championship-caliber teams are rarely built only around flashy stars. They’re built around players who stabilize pressure moments, understand the organization, and give teams consistency through the emotional grind of a 162-game season. ⚾ The Twins have spent years trying to build sustainable success instead of temporary momentum. Letting a player like Jeffers walk away could create the exact type of leadership void teams don’t notice until it’s too late. 🔥 Now the conversation around Minnesota is growing louder: Is Ryan Jeffers simply part of the current roster… or should he become part of the long-term foundation of Twins baseball? 👀 #Twins #MinnesotaTwins #MLB #RyanJeffers #TwinsNation

🚨 THE YANKEES ARE NOW BEING LINKED TO A MAJOR TWINS TRADE TARGET — AND THE ENTIRE LEAGUE IS STARTING TO CIRCLE 👀⚾ As the MLB trade deadline slowly approaches, one thing is becoming very clear around baseball: the New York Yankees are preparing to hunt aggressively — and insiders now believe a key Minnesota Twins player could be firmly on their radar. 😳🔥 The moment the rumor surfaced, rival fanbases immediately reacted. Because whenever the Yankees enter the conversation for a high-impact deadline piece, the pressure across the American League instantly changes. Other contenders begin watching closer. Front offices start moving faster. And suddenly, what looked like a quiet market becomes an all-out bidding war. 💥 What makes this situation even more fascinating is the growing belief that multiple teams are already monitoring the same target, creating the feeling that “the vultures are circling” around Minnesota ahead of a potentially massive deadline decision. For the Yankees, the motivation is obvious. This roster still carries championship expectations. Aaron Judge’s window matters. The pressure in the Bronx never disappears. And if New York believes one more impact bat or arm could tilt the postseason race, history says they won’t hesitate to make a move. ⚾👀 Now fans everywhere are asking the same thing: Are the Yankees simply monitoring the situation… or quietly preparing for another classic Bronx blockbuster? 🔥 #Yankees #MLB #NewYorkYankees #Twins #MLBTradeDeadline
