What Red Sox’s Lucas Giolito Showed In Triple-A Rehab Start

Lucas Giolito is close to his Red Sox debut, but his command is slightly concerning after his latest rehab start.

Giolito took the mound for Triple-A Worcester Friday night. He racked up 85 pitches in 4 2/3 innings of work. He allowed three runs and four strikeouts, though the Red Sox right-hander also walked six batters in under five innings.

Giolito walked seven more batters in his four previous rehab outings. He’s striking out hitters and working out of innings, but his ability to limit walks is a major story when he does make his Boston debut in the coming weeks.

Brayan Bello returned Tuesday night for his first start of the season for the Red Sox. Giolito should be next with Kutter Crawford potentially on track for a summer debut.
