49ers draft pick times: What time San Francisco’s second and third round picks will happen on Friday

When we tried this exercise for night one of the 2025 NFL Draft, we were pretty dang accurate.

With the San Francisco 49ers on the clock at 11 on Thursday night, we predicted to be seated in front of your television at 6:15 pm PST to ensure you don’t miss the 49ers selection. Within ten minutes of that prediction, Mykel Williams was named as San Francisco’s first selection of what is scheduled to be 11 picks for the 49ers this weekend.

FanDuel Sportsbook doesn’t have odds for who the Niners will pick tonight. They called it last night when it came to defensive line.

Day two of the NFL draft is a little more chaotic. Instead of a ten-minute timer to make a selection, as in the first round, teams will only have seven minutes in the second round and five minutes in the third round. With San Francisco selecting 11th again on Friday night (the 43rd overall selection), there won’t be an hour-and-a-half wait from the start of the broadcast (4 pm PST) for the 49ers to be on the clock.

If we do some simple – and inexact – math if it took approximately an hour and a half at ten minutes per selection for San Francisco to hit the clock on Thursday, subtracting three minutes per pick in front of San Francisco would take away about 30 minutes of waiting time alone there. Let’s trust this inexact equation and guess that the best time to be on the couch to ensure you are ready for the 49ers at pick 43 is 4:45 pm PST, or about 45 minutes after night two begins.

Now, the best advice for round three is to stay close to your mobile device to follow if the 49ers make any trades to adjust their draft position and to stay prepared. But if we assume San Francisco stays at picks 75 and 100, what time will those selections be made?

With the quicker turnaround time starting in the third round, our best estimate is that the 49ers will be nearing their selection at 75 around 7:05 pm PST and 100 around 8:40 pm PST. It might be safe to give or take about ten minutes on each of those guesses as well since there’s more pomp and circumstance with special guests making the selections, and some of those could take more time than others.

While the first round gets the attention for the quality of the names selected, great teams are built in the second and third rounds. The 49ers selected Renardo Green and Dominick Puni on day two in 2024, and both showed signs in their rookie campaign that they’ll be key contributors. You don’t want to miss the selection of a potential 49ers great, so take our advice on when to be ready for San Francisco to be on the clock on Friday night.
